Changes Effective January 1, 2025

The Malta Permanent Residency Program (MPRP) will implement higher investment thresholds and fees, reinforcing its reputation as a premier residency option. Key Changes to the MPRP

Property Investment

Before 2025: 
Purchase: €300,000 in Gozo/South Malta, €350,000 in rest of Malta.
Rent: €10,000 per year in Gozo/South Malta, €12,000 per year in rest of Malta.
After 2025: 
Purchase: €375,000 nationwide.
Rent: €14,000 per year nationwide.

Financial Requirements

Before 2025: 
€500,000 in total assets, including €150,000 in liquid financial assets.
After 2025 (two options): 
€500,000 in total assets, including €150,000 in liquid financial assets.
€650,000 in total assets, including €75,000 in liquid financial assets.

Administrative Fees

Before 2025: 
€40,000 for main applicant.
After 2025: 
€50,000 for main applicant, split into two payments:
€15,000 within one month of application submission.
€35,000 within two months of receiving approval in principle.

Government Contribution

Before 2025: 
€28,000 for property purchases.
€58,000 for rentals.
After 2025: 
€30,000 for property purchases.
€60,000 for rentals.

Dependent Children

Before 2025: 
No age limit for principally dependent children.
After 2025: 
Age limit of 29 for unmarried, principally dependent children.

Dependent Fees

Before 2025: 
No fees for spouse and children.
€7,500 for parents and grandparents.
After 2025: 
€10,000 for each dependent, including spouse, children, parents, and grandparents.
