Malta’s Residency and Citizenship Programs

Malta’s Residency and Citizenship Programs: When you can win on both sides.

There’s more to Malta than just its beauty and climatic conditions, but also the latest programs that let you as an investor secure a premium investment, and obtain a foothold in the European Union, through two primary pathways: the Malta Golden Visa Program and the Malta Citizenship Program. One of them is a potential path to the other, and both options offer various benefits, including the right to reside and settle in Malta.

Malta Golden Visa Program Overview

The Malta Permanent Residence Program (MPRP), commonly known as the Malta Golden Visa, is designed to attract non-EU/EEA nationals by offering residency through qualifying investments. Investors and their families can obtain permanent residency by investing in real estate or making government contributions. The MPRP is one of Europe’s most coveted residency options, providing immediate permanent residency status.

Malta Citizenship Program Overview

Malta also offers the Citizenship by Naturalization for Exceptional Services by Direct Investment program, allowing foreign nationals to apply for citizenship after a minimum of 12 months of residency. This program is particularly appealing to those seeking the long-term benefits of EU citizenship, including visa-free travel and enhanced global mobility.

Investment Options for Malta Golden Visa

  • Real Estate: Purchase properties starting from €300,000.
  • Property Rental: Lease options from €10,000 annually.
  • Government Contribution: €68,000 or €98,000.

Investment Requirements for Malta Citizenship

  • Real Estate: Rent from €16,000 or purchase from €700,000.
  • Government Contribution: From €600,000.
  • NGO Donation: Minimum €10,000.

Advantages of Malta’s Programs

The Malta Golden Visa and Citizenship Programs provide a range of compelling benefits:

  • Visa-Free Travel: Access all Schengen Zone countries with the Golden Visa, and 186 countries with Maltese citizenship.
  • Family Inclusion: Extend the benefits to your spouse, children, parents, and grandparents.
  • Immediate Residency: Obtain permanent residency instantly with the Golden Visa.
